The TGINE came into being on 2nd Aug 1999. The establishment of a school of nursing to train nurses with quality education in nursing was a long felt need of Ruby Hall Clinic. The Ruby Hall Clinic being one of the finest hospitals with over 500 beds and with all its super specialty disciplines was in need of nurses who will have the technical knowledge, sound knowledge of human behaviour and disease conditions. The vision of Grants’ who started the Ruby Hall Clinic to establish a nursing institute of repute thus became a reality. Since then there was no looking back.

Mrs. C. Cruze, the Nursing Superintendent of Ruby Hall Clinic with the support of Mr. A.H. Dhanawade & Managing Committee were able to set up the “Tehmi Grant School of Nursing” in record time. Mrs. Tehmi Grant, the beloved wife of Dr. K.B. Grant Chairman & Managing Trustee is the founder of the Institute. She passed away on 2nd Feb 2003 and is fondly remembered for her caring nature by one and all on her birthday – 14th April.

The first batch admitted 20 students and functioned from the 6th floor of the newly constructed wing of Ruby Hall Clinic. The School of Nursing continued to function from the same location till 2003 and then shifted to the beautiful spaciously built 7 storied building of Tehmi Grant Institute of Nursing Education at 13, Tadiwala Road.

The School of Nursing was upgraded to Tehmi Grant Institute of Nursing Education offering B.Sc. (Nursing) program in the year 2004. Mrs. A.R. Singh took over as the principal of the TGINE in Feb 2004. The first batch 20 of B.Sc. (Nursing) students was admitted in Aug 2004.
